Singer Andy Torres assassinated during performance in Peru
Peruvian cumbia singer Cristian Anderson Torres Zamora, known professionally as Andy Torres, was assassinated during a live performance in Huaycán, located in the Ate district. The attack occurred on the night of Thursday, October 1, while the 29-year-old artist was performing at a birthday celebration.
According to reports, two individuals posing as attendees opened fire on the stage, discharging up to seven shots. Torres died at the scene from his injuries. Edison Daniel Peseros Gago, the singer’s host and team member, was also wounded by gunfire in the hand and was transported to the Huaycán Hospital.
The assailants fled the scene following the shooting. Surveillance footage reportedly captured a suspect running near Avelino Cáceres Avenue and identified a silver vehicle that police are investigating. While the artist’s brother stated that Torres had not received prior threats, he noted a recent change in the singer's mood.
