Singer Boni advocates for education and against early marriage

Singer Boni has released a new song titled ‘Baro Biyav’, performed in the Romani language, which focuses on themes of love, family, and tradition. During a broadcast of ‘Sŭbudishe se’, the artist used the release to address social issues within the community, specifically advocating for increased education and informed decision-making among young people.

Boni spoke out against early and arranged marriages, stating that “family should be a choice, not a result of a lack of other opportunities.” She noted that such marriages are often linked to children dropping out of school. The singer identified poverty, lack of support, and early entry into the labor market as primary drivers for leaving education.

In addition to calling on parents to encourage learning, Boni urged the state to provide better access to healthcare, education, and stability for young families. She emphasized the need for more opportunities in sports, culture, and vocational training to ensure youth have viable paths forward.
