Singer Can Bonomo faces legal action after death threats
A lawsuit has been filed against Mehmet B., a 33-year-old man accused of issuing death threats against Turkish singer Can Bonomo. The suspect is facing a potential three-year prison sentence for charges including 'threatening' and 'disturbing the peace and tranquility of individuals.'
The incident stems from a social media program titled ‘O Tarz Mı?’, where Bonomo answered viewer questions. Mehmet B. allegedly sent messages demanding the IP addresses, videos, and messages of individuals who asked questions related to his private life. In the messages, the suspect reportedly stated, ‘If I want, I can take your life’ and warned the singer to ‘watch out for couriers,’ claiming he could find Bonomo’s home easily.
Following a complaint by Bonomo, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation. Although mediation efforts between the two parties were attempted, they failed to reach a resolution. During his detention, Mehmet B. claimed he had no prior personal or professional relationship with the singer, asserting that his actions were motivated by comments made during a 2021 program that he believed affected his private life.
