Cansever, prominent Balkan and Roman music star, dies at 59

Renowned Balkan and Roman music star Cansever, born Dzansever Dalipova, passed away on August 8, 2026, at the age of 59. She died in a hospital in Essen, Germany, following a prolonged battle with leukemia.

Originally from Veles, North Macedonia, Cansever rose to prominence in the 1990s. She achieved significant fame in Turkey after appearing on the popular television program "İbo Show," hosted by Ibrahim Tatlises, where her performance of "Kara Çadir" established her as a major figure in the arabesque music scene.

Throughout her life, the singer faced various health challenges, including ankylosing spondylitis, for which she underwent surgery in Germany in 2009. Following her leukemia diagnosis in late 2025, she underwent a bone marrow transplant in March 2026, but her condition eventually declined. Her funeral is scheduled to take place on August 12 in Veles, North Macedonia.
