Singer Germán Medina dies in Nayarit highway accident

Germán Medina, a 21-year-old rising star of regional Mexican music and vocalist of the group ‘El del BM’, died in a car accident on the Tepic-Matanchén highway in Nayarit, Mexico. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 17, near the Mecatán bridge in the San Blas municipality.

Reports indicate the tragedy was a multi-vehicle accident. An MG One SUV reportedly lost control on a curve and overturned, leaving the vehicle abandoned on the roadway. Shortly after, Medina and audio engineer Olaf Rubio were traveling in a Volkswagen Vento when they encountered the overturned SUV. While attempting an evasive maneuver, Medina’s vehicle lost control and rolled multiple times. The impact resulted in the deaths of both Medina and Rubio.

Medina was also a student at the Universidad Tecnológica de Nayarit, studying Business Management and Projects. His death has caused significant mourning within the regional Mexican music community and among his followers. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash, including potential speeding and the lack of warning signals from the initial overturned vehicle.
