Singer Hugo reveals gambling addiction and vocal cord issues

Brazilian sertanejo singer Hugo, from the duo Hugo & Guilherme, has publicly disclosed his struggle with a gambling addiction and a medical issue involving his vocal cords.

In an interview with André Piunti's channel, Hugo described his period of betting on various platforms as a time of “decadence” and “limbo,” noting that he lost a significant amount of money and felt he had lost his sense of self. He stated he would refuse any payment to promote betting companies, saying, “I am not going to destroy people's lives.”

Additionally, the 35-year-old singer revealed he has been undergoing treatment for three months following a hemorrhage in his vocal cords. He noted that the condition sometimes causes his voice to fail, leading to public misconceptions about his sobriety, and mentioned he has reduced alcohol consumption to assist with his recovery.
