Singer Jo Kwon reveals family hardships during military service

Singer Jo Kwon, leader of the group 2AM, has shared personal details regarding the hardships he faced during his mandatory military service. Appearing on the entertainment program ‘New Woman’, Jo Kwon revealed that both of his parents were battling cancer simultaneously while he was serving.

He disclosed that his mother suffered from melanoma, which required the amputation of a toe, and his father was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, undergoing four surgeries to date. During this period, Jo Kwon also faced financial instability and professional uncertainty while negotiating contract renewals with his agency.

Jo Kwon expressed deep gratitude toward actress Kim Hye Soo for her support during this difficult time. The two have maintained a close friendship since working together on the drama ‘Queen of Office’ in 2013. He noted that despite her busy schedule, Kim has consistently supported his musical activities.
