Singer Karina Zeviani dies at 51 after cancer battle

Singer and songwriter Karina Zeviani has died at the age of 51 while undergoing treatment for cancer. The former contestant of The Voice Brasil passed away on October 1st at a hospital in São José do Rio Preto.

Zeviani had been battling the disease for two years. Although she reported a significant remission of over 90% following initial chemotherapy sessions earlier this year, subsequent medical evaluations revealed the cancer had spread to her bones and liver. After an unsuccessful attempt with oral chemotherapy, she had transitioned to intravenous treatment.

Zeviani gained national recognition in Brazil as a member of Carlinhos Brown's team during the ninth season of The Voice Brasil in 2020. Her musical career also included international experience, having worked with the American collective Thievery Corporation in 2005 and the French project Nouvelle Vague starting in 2008.
