Singer Kucci to perform theme song for film ‘Katai’

Singer-songwriter Kucci has written and will perform the theme song ‘Nukumori’ for the upcoming film ‘Katai’, scheduled for nationwide release in Japan on February 5, 2027. The song is described as a minimal ballad designed to reflect the emotional depth of the film's narrative.

Directed by Ei Yamamoto and based on the novel by Shiho Tanimura, ‘Katai’ explores the intersecting lives of two women with roots in Japan and South Korea, centered around the complexities of advanced reproductive medicine. The film features Erika Karata and Jiyoung (member of KARA) in dual lead roles, portraying characters facing the consequences of a fertilized egg mix-up.

Kucci, a 22-year-old artist from Nagoya, stated that she created the song with the intention of staying close to the protagonists' struggles and their efforts to move forward despite an unacceptable reality. The film has been selected for the competition category at the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival.
