Singer Lee Ki-chan sparks controversy with pharmacy busking tour
Singer Lee Ki-chan is conducting a nationwide tour of pharmacies to promote his remake of the song ‘Cold (2026)’. The tour, which includes stops in cities such as Seoul, Daejeon, and Incheon, was inspired by the song title to create a unique promotional concept.
While the performances have received positive reactions from the public, they have drawn criticism from the pharmaceutical community. Some pharmacists and local health centers have raised concerns that these busking events could violate the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act by acting as a method to attract patients or promote specific pharmacies. The Korean Pharmaceutical Association noted that while they do not oppose musical performances, there is a risk that such events could be perceived as marketing tools to drive drug sales or customer solicitation.
