Singer Lucas of Lucas & Matheus dies in Portugal

Brazilian sertanejo singer Lucas, known for the duo Lucas & Matheus, died in Portugal on Saturday, August 15, following a sudden heart attack. He was found in his apartment during the early hours of the morning.

Lucas had a significant career in Portugal, where he and his brother, Matheus, established a large fanbase. Following the death of his brother, Edílson da Silva Rodrigues (Matheus), due to COVID-19 complications in 2020, Lucas continued the musical project alongside his nephew, Matheus Jr., performing as Lucas & Matheus Jr.

At the time of his death, Lucas was in Portugal for a series of scheduled performances, including a concert in Esposende. The Portuguese label Espacial confirmed the news, describing him as a “striking voice” and a beloved artist. His family is currently arranging for his body to be repatriated to his hometown of Presidente Prudente, São Paulo, Brazil.
