Marcelo Gasparini, sertanejo singer, dies at 54 after leukemia battle
Sertanejo singer Marcelo Gasparini died at age 54 in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil, following a battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). The diagnosis was made in February of this year.
Gasparini performed as part of the duo Maurício & Marcelo alongside his twin brother, Mauricio Gasparini, who is also a local councilman. During his treatment, Marcelo underwent a bone marrow transplant with Mauricio serving as the donor.
The brothers maintained a musical career spanning over three decades, participating in various television programs and the Clube da Viola project. Marcelo, who was also a lawyer and entrepreneur, is survived by his wife and son.
