Eric Philippi responds to Michelle following their breakup

German Schlager singers Eric Philippi and Michelle are addressing the public fallout following their breakup. After months of silence, Philippi released a video statement on Instagram to respond to recent claims made by his former partner.

Michelle had previously stated in an interview with RTL that the breakup, which occurred in May, was sudden and communicated to her via telephone. She also suggested she might have been misled during the relationship. In his response, Philippi confirmed that he made the decision to end the relationship due to an “extremely burdensome relationship situation,” but he denied various allegations regarding his character.

Philippi stated that a “limit has been reached” regarding the spread of false information and announced that he has initiated legal steps against demonstrably untrue claims. He expressed regret for the pain the decision caused both parties but maintained that he saw no other way out. The couple, who had a 25-year age difference and had recently become engaged in February 2026, had been a prominent fixture in the German music scene since making their relationship public in 2023.
