Singer Neném taken to police station after driving cloned vehicle

Brazilian singer Neném, part of the musical duo with her sister Pepê, was taken to a police station in Sorocaba, São Paulo, after being stopped by Military Police while driving a vehicle with cloned plates.

Authorities discovered that while the license plates appeared legitimate, the chassis and engine numbers revealed the car had been stolen in the capital of São Paulo in August 2026. Neném stated she believed she was a victim of a scam after negotiating a vehicle trade on Facebook Marketplace approximately one month ago. She reported that a trusted dispatcher had previously checked the documentation and found no restrictions.

The incident has been registered as fraud. The vehicle was seized, and no arrests were made during the encounter. Police have added the details of the singer's original vehicle to the alert system in an effort to locate and return it to her.
