Singer Quang Lê reflects on friendships following mother's funeral

Vietnamese singer Quang Lê has shared personal reflections regarding his relationships following the funeral of his mother. In a video conversation with fellow performer Mai Thiên Vân, the singer expressed disappointment that several individuals he previously considered close friends failed to offer even a simple word of condolence or a floral tribute.

Quang Lê noted that the experience helped him distinguish between true friends and mere acquaintances, stating, “At this moment, I only know who truly loves me.” He added that while he does not blame anyone, he feels he has misjudged certain people.

In accordance with his mother’s prior wishes, the family declined all monetary donations during the funeral services. The singer explained that his mother felt that accepting such money would make her feel as though she owed a debt to others and to life. Consequently, the family only accepted floral tributes as a gesture of shared sympathy.
