Singer Robert Astro loses both legs in Bahia car accident

Singer Robert Astro, 25, suffered the amputation of both legs following a traffic accident in Serrinha, Bahia, on Sunday night. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. when the singer was standing between two parked vehicles. A pickup truck struck the rear of one of the vehicles, pinning Astro between the two cars.

Emergency services (Samu) transported the singer to the Municipal Hospital of Serrinha. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was transferred to a higher-complexity medical facility in Feira de Santana for surgery.

Authorities have arrested the 39-year-old driver of the pickup truck. The driver was caught in the act and faces charges of involuntary bodily injury while driving and operating a vehicle with impaired psychomotor capacity due to intoxication. The singer's family and representatives have requested privacy and prayers for his recovery, asking that no photos or videos of the accident be shared on social media.
