Singer Sourin Bhatt faces arrest as police seek execution of warrant
Singer Sourin Bhatt faces potential arrest after the Orissa High Court lifted a stay on a non-bailable warrant (NBW) issued against him by the Cuttack SDJM Court. The Kataka Mahila Police have contacted the Ballygunge Police Station in Kolkata, requesting that they arrest Bhatt and produce him before the court.
The legal proceedings follow a complaint filed by a woman in Cuttack, who alleged that Bhatt physically and mentally harassed her, sexually harassed her, and took Rs 10 lakh under the false promise of marriage and career assistance in the music industry. The case was registered under several sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Although Bhatt had previously challenged the warrant in the High Court, he failed to surrender to the lower court by the August 20 deadline provided by his counsel. Consequently, the High Court vacated the stay and directed authorities to take firm steps to secure his appearance.
