India sees massive crowds at Shiva temples on final Sawan Monday

Devotees across India gathered in massive numbers to observe the final Monday of the holy month of Sawan, performing rituals such as Jal Abhishek at prominent Shiva temples.

In Varanasi, the Kashi Vishwanath Temple saw significant crowds, with over 60,000 devotees visiting by early morning. Similarly, the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain held special Bhasma Aarti ceremonies. In Deoghar, the Baba Baidyanath Dham witnessed intense devotional activity, with officials noting high turnout following a period of significant pilgrimage.

While most regions reported peaceful celebrations, a stampede occurred at Singhेश्वर Dham in Madhepura, Bihar, due to heavy crowding. The incident resulted in injuries to several devotees and a police officer. Authorities managed to control the situation and increased security measures to maintain order.

Across other regions including Prayagraj, Ahmedabad, and parts of Maharashtra, temples remained crowded despite weather conditions, with local administrations implementing security and crowd management protocols to facilitate the large-scale religious gatherings.
