Singtel pivots to AI infrastructure with Nxera expansion

Singtel is undergoing a strategic transformation under its ‘Singtel28’ plan, shifting its business model toward specialized artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. A central component of this strategy is the expansion of its data center division, Nxera.

Singtel aims to increase Nxera’s operational capacity from 62 megawatts (MW) in 2024 to approximately 230 MW by the end of fiscal year 2027. This expansion includes 120 MW in Singapore and 110 MW across other regional markets, including Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. The company targets an EBITDA of more than $300 million from this division by fiscal year 2028.

Additionally, the company is investing approximately $300 million to develop a GPU cluster. The first 6 MW phase of this project is already fully contracted. Singtel is also exploring international growth through a joint venture with Hitachi to enter the Japanese AI infrastructure market and a partnership with KKR to expand its global portfolio.
