Marian shrines host major Assumption of Mary celebrations

Religious celebrations and pilgrimages for the Feast of the Assumption of Mary are taking place across various regions in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia.

In Croatia, numerous Marian shrines are hosting large gatherings. In Sinj, officials have implemented free parking and extended business hours to accommodate over 100,000 expected pilgrims. Other significant sites include Šumanovci, where up to 12,000 people are expected, and Trsat, where traffic regulations have been established. Pilgrimages are also being held in Gospić, Kamensko, Breške, Močila, Vukovina, Škabrnja, Rodaljice, and Marija Bistrica.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, believers gathered in Breške for prayer and communal services. In Slovenia, major religious festivities are centered in Brezje, where the Archbishop of Ljubljana is expected to lead masses.

Due to the high volume of visitors and high summer temperatures, authorities have issued health warnings regarding heatstroke and dehydration, alongside traffic advisories and public transport adjustments in various municipalities.
