Sinj mayor demands new general hospital as health services deteriorate

Mayor Miro Bulj of Sinj wrote to Health Minister Irena Hrstić urging immediate action to restore full laboratory hours at the local health centre, which have been reduced and now lack afternoon testing. He also highlighted a chronic shortage of pediatric doctors, noting that on some shifts no pediatric care is available, forcing families to travel to Split for basic treatment.

Bulj called for the establishment of a general hospital in Sinj to serve more than 50,000 residents of the Cetinska region. He warned that the simultaneous loss of laboratory services and pediatric staff is systematically weakening primary healthcare, leaving parents and children without essential care. The mayor has scheduled a press conference outside the Ministry of Health to demand concrete measures and to hold the ministry and the Split‑Dalmatian County accountable for the ongoing failures.
