Sinj reinstalls restored statue of Saint Francis of Assisi

The restored bronze statue of Saint Francis of Assisi has been reinstalled at the entrance to the St. Francis cemetery in Sinj. The project was a collaborative effort between the City of Sinj and the local Franciscans.

Originally created by academic sculptor Stanko Vukadin and installed in 1977, the statue had lost prominence following a relocation in 2009. After nearly fifty years of exposure to the elements, the monument required professional conservation. In June, it was transported to the Ujević Art Foundry in Zagreb, where experts cleaned the bronze, repaired damages, and applied protective coatings.

Mayor Miro Bulj inspected the works at the new site, which aims to return the symbol to a position of visibility and dignity. The new location honors the long-standing historical connection between the Franciscan order and the people of Sinj and the Cetina region.
