Sinop, Brazil launches free emergency responder training for tourism workers

The municipality of Sinop, together with the Mato Grosso state government, opened registrations on June 9 for a free two‑day Emergency Responder course aimed at tourism professionals, event staff, drivers, guides and entrepreneurs. The training will be held on June 17‑18 at the Sinop Government School, totaling eight hours of instruction covering basic life support, CPR, respiratory and cardiac arrest, wound care, and handling injuries from firearms or knives.

Leidiane Viegas, Sinop’s tourism director, said the program "invests directly in safety, quality of service and the credibility of the tourist destination". Sedec coordinator Marcos Sena added that "the first minutes matter; knowing how to act calmly can save lives". The initiative is part of a broader effort to professionalise and secure the region’s tourism sector.
