Sinop reaches US$ 1.71 billion in exports amid regional development initiatives

Sinop has reached a historic milestone in exports, totaling US$ 1.71 billion between January and August 2026. This represents a 35.85% increase compared to the same period in 2025, positioning the city second in Mato Grosso and first in the northern region. The growth is driven primarily by agribusiness, with soy products accounting for US$ 1.317 billion of the total.

In regional development, leaders from the Mato Grosso/Bolivia Regional Development Agency are meeting in Cáceres to discuss international cooperation, tourism, and institutional strengthening to boost border economies. Additionally, the city of Sinop is partnering with Sebrae/MT to create a sectoral development plan for fishing tourism, aiming to structure the sport fishing industry and leverage the natural resources of the Teles Pires River.

Other regional initiatives include the launch of the ‘Mercado em Movimento’ project at Mercado São Miguel to support local entrepreneurs through digital literacy and management training, and the ‘Mulheres de Fibra’ exhibition in Sinop, which showcases sustainable handicrafts made from banana fiber by rural women.
