Sinop reports R$ 1.22 billion revenue as regional hub

The City of Sinop reported a municipal revenue of R$ 1.22 billion in 2025, according to data presented during a public hearing for the 2027 Annual Budget Law (LOA). While the city has a resident population of 223,780, officials emphasized its role as a regional hub serving residents from Northern Mato Grosso and Southern Pará.

Finance Secretary Ivete Mallmann noted that the revenue per inhabitant—approximately R$ 5,493.83—must be viewed through the lens of the city’s regional responsibilities. The municipality provides essential services, including healthcare, education, commerce, and urban infrastructure, to a much larger daily population than its official census suggests. These investments are intended to maintain the city’s capacity to function as a central service provider for the surrounding region.
