Sinop public transport upgrades aim to ease commercial parking congestion

Sinop is promoting its public transportation system as a solution to parking shortages in the Avenida Júlio Campos commercial district. The area faces high demand for parking spaces due to the concentration of businesses, shops, and services serving workers, clients, and suppliers.

To encourage a shift away from private vehicles, the city has undergone a complete renewal of its transit service this year. The updated fleet includes new buses equipped with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and modern fare collection technology, alongside reorganized and expanded routes.

Edmundo da Costa Marques Neto, president of the Sinop Chamber of Dirigentes Lojistas (CDL Sinop), noted that incentivizing employees to use public transit can reduce street congestion and free up parking spaces for customers, thereby benefiting local commerce.
