Sint Maarten police seize firearms and make arrests

The Sint Maarten Police (KPSM) conducted two separate operations involving firearms within a few days of each other.

On Friday, August 28, police responded to reports of four men on two scooters traveling from the French Quarter toward Philipsburg. During the intervention, officers intercepted one scooter, leading to the arrest of a man identified by the initials J. P. D. and the seizure of a firearm. One suspect managed to flee on foot toward the French side of the island.

In a prior operation on Wednesday, August 26, police responded to reports of gunfire near L. B. Scott Road. Two men, identified as R. C. and M. N. V., were arrested on suspicion of firearm regulation violations. A subsequent search of a residence led to the discovery of a black pistol hidden under clothing in a bedroom.
