Sint-Truiden implements wheel clamping for parking offenders
The city of Sint-Truiden has implemented stricter enforcement measures against unpaid parking fees. As of October 2026, drivers with three or more outstanding fines risk having their vehicles immobilized with a wheel clamp.
Mayor Ludwig Vandenhove stated that the policy aims to consistently address habitual offenders rather than conducting a ‘witch hunt’. The administration noted that previous delays in enforcement were due to legal preparations and administrative backlogs within the municipal company Trupark. The city intends to clear the backlog of unpaid parking fees by the end of the year.
