Sintra Municipality extends paid beach parking to year-round

The Sintra Municipality has approved the extension of paid parking at Praia Grande and Praia das Maçãs to a year-round regime. Previously, these parking regulations were only active during the summer season, but they will now operate permanently from January 1 to December 31.

Mayor Marco Almeida noted that the summer operation was successful in regulating beach access. Under the new rules, which take effect on October 1, parking rates will be lower during the winter period (October 1 to April 30) compared to the summer rates. Additionally, the municipality will introduce a 15-minute free parking grace period for all parking meter areas throughout the entire Sintra municipality, a move suggested by local commerce.
