Sintraelecol urges state investment for Termopaipa plant
The labor union Sintraelecol has called on the Colombian national government to include the Termopaipa plant in its emergency action plan. Pedro Rojas, president of the organization, urged officials to reconsider the progressive closure of thermal power plants, arguing that these facilities provide the firm energy necessary to maintain a continuous supply and support the national electrical system.
As Termopaipa is a state asset, the union is requesting budget allocations for maintenance and technical availability of the generating units in Boyacá. Sintraelecol also proposed reviving the Paipa 5 project to promote regional employment and called for a restructuring of energy commercialization to eliminate intermediaries, aiming to strengthen national energy sovereignty and prevent potential rationing.
