Sipario d’Oro Awards in Agrigento Spotlight Road Safety and Child Transplant Tragedy

The 21st edition of the national "Sipario d’Oro" prize was held at the Teatro della Panoramica dei Templi in Agrigento. Patron Lelio Castaldo, assisted by journalist Marcella Lattuca, emphasized the ceremony’s focus on merit, dignity and social responsibility.

A special award was presented to the Associazione Italiana Familiari e Vittime della Strada, highlighting ongoing efforts to improve road safety. The event featured an emotional interview with the mother of cyclist Giuseppe Di Stefano, who died in a 2017 road accident, and with the mother of Domenico, a child who succumbed after a failed heart‑transplant procedure. Both stories underscored the human cost of safety failures and medical mishaps, drawing a solemn response from the audience.
