Sir Jim Ratcliffe faces calls to leave Manchester United over immigration remarks

The Manchester United Muslim Supporters’ Club (MUMSC) has issued a statement of no confidence in the club’s ownership, calling for both co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Glazer family to depart. The demand follows controversial remarks made by Ratcliffe during a BBC interview, in which he suggested the United Kingdom is “on the slide” due to high taxes and immigration levels.

Ratcliffe, the founder of Ineos, previously faced backlash in February for stating the UK had been “colonised by immigrants,” for which he later apologized. The MUMSC described his recent comments as “deeply disappointing” and “completely unacceptable,” noting that the club’s strength lies in its diverse community of players, staff, and supporters.

The supporters' group expressed that they had hoped Ratcliffe’s arrival would bring meaningful change, but they have since lost faith due to his rhetoric and the club's ongoing sporting and institutional decline.
