Sir Kenny Dalglish and Karen Carney receive PFA Merit Award

Sir Kenny Dalglish and Karen Carney have been named recipients of the 2026 Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Merit Award. The honors recognize their lasting contributions to the sport and will be presented at a ceremony in Manchester.

Dalglish, a legendary figure for Liverpool and Scotland, is celebrated for his extensive career as both a player and manager. His achievements include winning eight First Division titles and three European Cups with Liverpool, as well as guiding Blackburn Rovers to a Premier League title. He remains Scotland’s most capped male player.

Carney is recognized for her 18-year playing career, which included significant success with Arsenal, Chelsea, and the England national team. A former Lioness, she represented England at four World Cups and four European Championships. Since retiring, she has worked as a broadcaster and chaired an independent review into the future of domestic women’s football.
