Italy sports: New youth partnerships and infrastructure updates

Various regional sports developments are underway across Italy, focusing on youth programs, infrastructure, and professional rosters.

In volleyball, Sir Safety Umbria Volley Perugia has entered a two-year partnership (2026-2028) with Pallavolo Media Umbria Marsciano. Coordinated by Massimo Colaci and Andrea Piacentini, the initiative aims to revitalize men's volleyball in the Media Alta Valle del Tevere through technical support and personal development for young athletes. Open days are scheduled for early September in Marsciano.

In football, several updates have emerged. Valtanaro Calcio SSD, in partnership with the Torino FC Academy, will hold its official presentation in Ceva on August 31. In Rome, Castelverde has appointed Patrizio Borghi as the head of its football school, establishing a collaboration with Monza. Meanwhile, AS Roma is advancing its Pietralata stadium project, having submitted required documentation to regional and municipal authorities, with a target completion date of 2031.

Other notable updates include Bergamo's investment of 260,000 euros to install LED lighting at three municipal football fields, and the announcement of new players across various disciplines, such as Giuseppe Riccio joining Reggio BiC for wheelchair basketball and Marta Radicella joining Messina Volley. Additionally, the UEFA Champions League 2026-27 draw is scheduled for August 27 in Monte Carlo, featuring 36 teams under a new format.
