Siracusa Airport Privatization Agenda Set for Provincial Council

The provincial council of Siracusa has placed the privatization of the Siracusa Airport (SAC) on its agenda at the request of councilor Giuseppe Stefi. The motion urges President Giansiracusa to schedule the discussion at the next available session and calls for maximum transparency throughout the process. It asks the Libero Consorzio Comunale di Siracusa, as the public shareholder, to provide all relevant documents and an independent valuation of the airport’s assets. The council also seeks public disclosure of the criteria for selecting a private partner, the industrial plan, investment commitments, employment guarantees, and development objectives. Additionally, the proposal stresses protecting the role of Comiso Airport within the eastern Sicilian airport system and calls for institutional dialogue with the regional government, trade unions, business groups, and other stakeholders. The council will report any developments and the positions taken by the public shareholder to the council.
