Siracusa authorities seize illegal landfill at agricultural site

Authorities in Siracusa have seized an unauthorized landfill located within an agricultural area. An investigation conducted by the Port Authority of Siracusa and Arpa Siracusa revealed that an agricultural company was using approximately 6,600 square meters of land for the illegal deposit and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste produced by agricultural and maintenance activities.

Investigators found evidence that the waste was also being burned, a practice that poses significant risks to air quality and the environment. Under the coordination of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Siracusa, the area has been placed under urgent preventive seizure, and the owners of the company have been reported to judicial authorities.
