Siracusa eyes Gaspare Cacciola return as coach, Palermo's Inzaghi reshapes tactics
Siracusa is preparing to rebuild its squad after the registration deadline closed and is reportedly considering the return of Gaspare Cacciola as head coach. Cacciola, a seasoned Serie D manager who guided Siracusa to promotion in the 2022‑23 season and set a club record of 81 points, left his previous post at Gela in November 2025. The club’s new ownership believes his familiarity with local supporters could help stabilise the team as it starts from scratch.
Palermo, under new coach Inzaghi, is focusing on strengthening its defensive phase. The coach has introduced a 4‑2‑3‑1 formation, emphasizing organized pressing after loss of possession and a compact defensive block. Training sessions are centred on coordinated movements of the back four, midfield support, and quick transitions, aiming to balance a more attacking intent with defensive solidity.
