Siracusa faces water service disruptions following power outages

Severe weather conditions in Siracusa caused overnight electricity outages, leading to a water service emergency. The loss of power forced the temporary shutdown of several lifting and pumping plants, resulting in a significant drop in reservoir levels.

When power was restored, sudden pressure fluctuations within the supply lines caused multiple pipe bursts. The water utility provider, Aretusacque, has been working continuously since the early hours of the morning to locate faults and repair damaged infrastructure.

Due to the technical time required for repairs and the need to rebalance reservoir levels, residents may experience temporary pressure reductions or service interruptions throughout the day. Affected areas include Ortigia, Bufalaro, Borgata, and various surrounding districts and streets.
