Sicily enacts traffic and rail restrictions for June‑July 2026 events

The municipality of Palermo issued an ordinance that restricts vehicle circulation and parking in multiple streets and squares on 27‑28 June 2026 for the Radio Italia Live concert. The measures include temporary road closures, double‑direction traffic, and a ban on parking with forced removal in designated areas, while encouraging the use of public transport.

Siracusa’s Mobility Department adopted a similar decree for the Federclub MINI meeting, imposing vehicle‑flow and parking bans in the Ortigia waterfront area from 26 June to 28 June 2026, with free parking for residents displaying a permit. Additional permanent parking prohibitions were introduced on Via Trento from 25 June to 29 June.

From 29 June to 9 July 2026, Trenitalia will carry out infrastructure upgrades on the Palermo‑Messina line, leading to timetable changes, cancellations and bus substitutions for regional, Intercity and night services. Passengers are advised to consult Trenitalia channels for alternative travel options.
