Siracusa water crisis leads to refund assistance for residents

A severe water supply disruption continues in Siracusa, Sicily, despite Aretusacque’s announcement that repair works were completed. Hundreds of households in the Epipoli, Plemmirio, Ortigia, Cassibile and Tiche districts still experience no water, extremely low flow or very low pressure, especially on higher floors.

The Forum Provinciale per l'Acqua Pubblica has partnered with the consumer association Federconsumatori to operate a refund assistance desk at the Camera del Lavoro “La Borgà” (via Piave 53). Residents can present copies of bills, prior complaints and documentation of the outage to claim compensation for the service interruption.

Aretusacque attributes the ongoing irregularities to air pockets trapped in the main DN 600 pipeline on viale Epipoli after a recent repair. Technicians are conducting flushing operations and expect water pressure to return to normal levels progressively throughout the day, although users in high‑rise buildings without booster pumps may face longer delays.
