SIRESP emergency radios to be distributed in Northern Portugal
The first SIRESP emergency communication radios are scheduled for delivery in November to parish councils in Northern Portugal. Following this initial phase, the distribution will be progressively extended to the rest of the country.
Under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), the initiative aims to equip all parishes with Starlink data connections, satellite phones, SIRESP terminals, and generators to ensure disaster response capabilities. SIRESP SA has acquired 4,000 terminals for parish councils and municipalities, which are currently undergoing a coding process.
Lieutenant General Paulo Viegas Nunes, president of SIRESP SA, noted that while the procurement process concluded in September, the implementation phase requires careful validation and testing of each terminal in its specific context to ensure reliability.
