SiriusXM's SXM-11 satellite enters operational service

SiriusXM has announced that its SXM-11 satellite is now fully operational following successful in-orbit testing and handover by Intuitive Machines. Launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, the geostationary communications satellite is designed to enhance signal reception, expand coverage in Alaska, and support reliable service across North America.

SXM-11 is the most powerful satellite in the SiriusXM fleet. Built on the Intuitive Machines IM 1300 platform, the spacecraft features a 30-foot main beam antenna providing an estimated eight million square miles of broadcast coverage. The satellite aims to bolster the company's network resilience and improve the in-car experience for millions of vehicles, particularly in areas where cellular service is limited.

This milestone continues a long-standing partnership between SiriusXM and Intuitive Machines, which has resulted in the construction of 13 spacecraft over more than two decades. Work is reportedly already underway on the next satellite in the series.
