Sisel Lan opens border-themed exhibition in Huixquilucan

Mexican architect and photographer Sisel Lan has opened a new exhibition titled ‘Entre aquello que nos separa’ (Between that which separates us) at the Museo de Huixquilucan in San Juan Bautista.

The exhibition features images from Lan’s decade-long visual research project, ‘Abrazos no Muros’ (Hugs not Walls). The work documents brief physical encounters between families divided by the border between Mexico and the United States, often occurring at the Rio Grande. The project aims to highlight the emotional impact of migration laws and present human connection as a response to isolation.

Mayor Romina Contreras Carrasco inaugurated the event, stating that the art serves to sensitize the public to complex realities and the strength of human bonds despite physical or political borders.
