Siset and Siso hold national medical congresses in Rome

Two major Italian medical congresses recently concluded in Rome, focusing on specialized advancements in ophthalmology and hematology.

The Siso (Società Italiana di Scienze Oftalmologiche) national congress took place at the Rome Cavalieri Congress Center. The event featured 1,059 speakers and 148 courses, covering disciplines such as retina, glaucoma, and cataract surgery. A significant portion of the program was dedicated to the role of artificial intelligence, specifically deep learning and large language models, in the diagnosis and prognosis of ocular diseases.

Simultaneously, the Siset (Società Italiana per lo Studio dell’Emostasi e della Trombosi) held its 29th national congress. During the meeting, Elvira Grandone, a physician at Irccs Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza and professor at the University of Foggia, was officially named president for the 2026-2028 term. She succeeds Giancarlo Castaman. Grandone’s mandate will focus on strengthening research, training, and institutional dialogue regarding hemorrhagic and thrombotic diseases.
