Sister Mildred Haipt, educator and Ursuline Sister, dies at 98

Sister Mildred Haipt, a long-serving member of the Ursuline Sisters, has died at the age of 98. She passed away on August 4 at the Andrus on Hudson Nursing Home.

During her 72 years with the Ursuline Sisters, Haipt held several significant roles, including serving as the director of education for the Ursulines of the Eastern Province and as superior of the Ursuline Sisters community. Her career in education included teaching at Ursuline Academy in Wilmington, Delaware. Following her retirement from the classroom, she founded Serviam Academy for Girls, a tuition-free middle school originally located in New Castle and now based in Wilmington.

Funeral services will be held at the Ursuline Province Center in New Rochelle, New York.
