Sisters of Charity mark 100 years of service in Sisak

The Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul marked their 100th anniversary of service in Sisak, Croatia, with a commemorative mass led by Bishop Vlado Košić. Since arriving in 1926, the order has operated schools, nurseries, and boarding houses, providing essential social services to the community.

The anniversary also highlighted the order's historical struggles, including the seizure of their property during World War II and the subsequent nationalization of their school building. This property was used by the Vrbina Children's Home until the 2020 earthquake. While the sisters eventually regained possession of the building and donated it to the Sisak Diocese, the structure remains heavily damaged.

Bishop Košić expressed a desire for the restoration of the building at Tomislavova 16 to house the Catholic Primary School in Sisak, noting that current efforts to secure funding or state assistance for the reconstruction have been unsuccessful.
