Sisters of the Oblation of the Blessed Virgin Mary arrive in Katowice

The Sisters of the Oblation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a religious order originating from Como, Italy, have established their first community in Poland. The group officially began its ministry in Katowice on September 8, 2026, during a Mass held at the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Parish on Osiedle Witosa.

The sisters intend to engage in various forms of service, including pastoral care, education, social work, and medical assistance to meet the needs of the local community. The initial group includes Sister Elżbieta, who previously worked in Italy, and is expected to grow as two additional sisters from India are scheduled to join the community within the next three months.

This expansion follows the order's international missionary work in countries such as India, Djibouti, Papua New Guinea, Tanzania, Kenya, Indonesia, and Uganda.
