SITA launches Border Flow Lane to accelerate airport border controls

SITA has launched Border Flow Lane, a new technological solution designed to streamline border control processes in airports. The system aims to transition border management from a traditional “stop-and-check” model to a data-driven, pre-clearance experience.

By utilizing passenger data and biometric verification before travelers reach physical checkpoints, the solution allows authorized individuals to move through immigration areas without necessarily stopping at kiosks, automated gates, or officers. SITA indicates that more than 75% of travelers could be cleared before departure. This approach can potentially make border clearance up to eight times faster than traditional eGates.

The technology is intended to help airports manage increasing passenger volumes and infrastructure capacity constraints. By automating the flow for trusted travelers, border agents can focus their attention on passengers who require more in-depth verification or manual intervention.
