Sitapur jeweller attacked and robbed of silver and cash
A jeweller was attacked and robbed by a group of unidentified individuals in the Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday evening. The victim, Ramesh Nigam, was traveling home on his motorcycle after closing his shop in Saraiyan when he was intercepted between Jannagar Mod and Kesripur.
Approximately six assailants on two motorcycles reportedly attacked Nigam with sticks, causing a head injury. The attackers seized his bag, which contained roughly 2.5 kilograms of silver—valued between 5 lakh and 6 lakh rupees—and 900 rupees in cash, before fleeing the scene.
Following the incident, police arrived and transported the injured merchant to a community health center. Due to the severity of his head injury, he was later referred to a district hospital for further treatment. Local police officials, including SP Ankur Agarwal and ASP (South) Durgesh Singh, inspected the site and are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify and apprehend the suspects.
