Sitaram Yechury memorialized by CPI(M) leaders
CPI(M) leaders held memorial services to honor former General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on his second death anniversary. During the tributes, current party general secretary MA Baby described Yechury as a defender of India’s constitutional values and syncretic culture, noting that his passing was a significant loss for the Left movement and progressive forces.
MA Baby also addressed recent political challenges, citing the rise of the BJP in West Bengal and setbacks for the Left Democratic Front in Kerala as consequences of the political landscape in Yechury’s absence. Party members pledged to uphold his political legacy.
In a separate memorial meeting in Bhubaneswar, SFI general secretary Srijan Bhattacharyya criticized the current administration's impact on education, employment, and democratic rights. Bhattacharyya called for increased mobilization among youth and students to combat what he described as the crisis of neoliberal capitalism and threats to secular values.
